In order to evaluate your claim, GAF may require 2 full size shingles 1 from the affected area(s) of the roof to properly evaluate your claim. GAF recommends that an experienced roofer removes the shingles.

You will be required to provide proof of installation date, and proof that you were the owner of the property at the time of roof installation (or that the warranty was properly transferred to you), as well as photographs of the reported problem 1 .
You will have 9 months from the time you open a claim to submit the information and samples needed for GAF to process your claim. If your roof is not accessible due to weather conditions, you should wait until it can be safely accessed.
If you must repair or replace your GAF products before your claim evaluation is complete, GAF advises you to initiate the claim and advise your examiner of the need to complete the work asap. If you’re unable to provide GAF the information it needs to properly evaluate the claim, it may be denied.
1 All claim submittals (shingles, photographs, etc) sent to GAF for claim evaluation, become the property of GAF and cannot be returned to the claimant.
